hum..hum..hum..
i now understand why teachers and lecturers dread marking test or exam papers. i really do. and i have to be specific here that it is the subjective/essay answer papers that would torment the mind and emotion; not so much if it was the objective answer sheets.
i've been spending the past few days helping ummi marking the 4th and 5th grade first semester's english papers. if marking papers are already quite disturbing, what more to be the teacher teaching in classes of superhyperactive school kids??? oh dear, now i'm having second thoughts about taking up the job as a substitute teacher next month..tsk3..

seems like everyone was off for some holidaying and adventures, either with friends or families few days back during labours day+wesak day break. i went off for a night stay back at my grandma's in batu pahat. my mom's side. there was a mini kenduri, just a small gathering where all the siblings meet up, and have long chats, lots of laughters, catching ups done, snacks after midnight, just as always. all was good. i love it when we have those kind of gatherings. the house bright with lights after midnight, with an overcrowded porch and foyer with cars, laughters that can be heard even from outside, lots and lots of food, children seen running around and heard screaming and shouting, babies crying; the house in front of masjid parit yusuf, that's my kampung.
but sadly, after my late atuk passed away, my nenek is often not around anymore. she has nto moved out of course. when my atuk was alive, her life was dedicated to care for my atuk. she took care of my atuk very, too very well. she is an amazing woman. she was in her 4os when she married my atuk who at that time was almost if not already 70. she married him to take care of him because after my late real nenek passed away, he needed someone to take care of him as he was sick. i have an amazing nenek tiri. i said that out loud didnt i? i remember when my brother zahid was off for some community service at a few kampungs away from our kampung, he told us that the people there once they found out that my brother's the grandchild of my late atuk ( my atuk was Cikgu Samad, quite well known among the local people as he was their 'cikgu' back in the early days), they started pouring out things about our family. alhamdulillah, it was good stories. heh. but get this, we found out one thing that we have never heard before; the people actually refers to my nenek tiri as the 'isteri solehah'.. i don't think the story ever left our house though. i pray that i will have the same strength and love as strong as my nenek for my atuk so that i can take care of my husband sampai lah his 'warga emas' days..lol.
oh wait, haha. i did not initially intend to write up on my nenek. i was planning on pouring out about my family's unplanned trip. hee..in a while. i gotta go for now. got an appointment with my hairdresser in a while! gaa
