books!wanted! books!
widaad gave me this for my birthday..i was incredibly surprised when i saw this. sangat menggalakkan saya untuk berangan. lol. it was like a free ticket. seriously. i could even smell the breads, pastries and the fruits at the marche. hee..
this one was from daad too. borrowed it some time ago. this book is emotional. about an unwanted down-syndrome baby. quite disturbing too if you ask me..
this book, i received it before i left for the sem break. its cool. a real chic lit. for a muslim teen chic. one of its kind. i got to know of this book pun from najia when i accompanied her book-hunting at kino the other day. and now, i have a copy of my own :) surprisingly, this book is more than just a chic lit. you know, the one that makes you laugh, get to know how a drama queen is like and all, because under all that, its quite deep actually. i mean, i was deeply touched and i have to say, i was affected by the story. i don't know. maybe it's just me..
hah. this book. of all books. thanx to widaad lagi. the one book i am constantly stuck on. hee..i am so sorry daad..will finish it!!
and now..i have another list of books that i am in dire and desperate need of! owh, yesterday, i read about Fatima Mernissi. came across her in the 136 (eh, ke 365? huhu..) cendikiawan islam. and now, i want to read her book.. Dreams of Trespass is about her personal experience of her childhood living in the harem, and how she fought for education, and to be educated when those days, women were all not allowed to step outside the harem, and only had a view of the world outside through a peephole, and dreamt of small little things that we take for granted today such as to walk freely outside on the road..
if you ask me what about this book that makes me want to read it, i would have to boldly say, the eyes of the girl. i was actually looking for Yasmina Khadra's book of the same title when i found this book enlisted along with Yasmina's. (Yasmina's a guy actually! a french algerian guy who uses a different name to avoid from being caught during some war or something like that. cool eh?) anyways, so yeah, i saw the cover, and it somehow felt as if the girl is looking straight into my eyes and chanting "read me!read me" so, yeah, i will..insyaAllah..
this book, i don't know why but lately i have been quite fascinated with sasterawan melayu that writes in english.
aah..this book. almost a year ago when i came across this book. i saw it on one of the new books stands. and ever since i've been looking for it but i couldnt remember the author's name, and i always get the title jumbled up. and i was on amazon.com the other day when i found it! finally!
